This is a 100% class dedicated to salted codfish, where we will use traditional Portuguese techniques and recipes. The menu may vary according to season and available products and the class takes around 03:30 hours. In the end of the class, we will add to our lunch a Portuguese red and white wine or soft drinks.
Located in ‘Praça do Comércio’ it is one of the largest squares in Europe and for many centuries the main entrance to the city of Lisbon. To reach the downtown you’ll have to pass under the Triumphal Arch and walk up Augusta street. Currently the square is used for cultural events, New year’s eve and music concerts.
The heart of the city was rebuilt after the earthquake of 1755 with beautiful cobblestone streets, named after the craftsmen. Many architectural styles are represented, including the original neogothic style of Mesnier du Ponsard, present in his renowned work of the Santa Justa Elevator.
Traditionally known as the home of many of Lisbon’s intellectuals, artists and radicals and recently restored after a devastating fire. Perfect for a coffee or a late-afternoon purchase.
The most traditional and old neighborhood of Lisbon composed of a maze of narrow streets, winding alleyways and steep flights of steps. It’s the birth place of ‘Fado’ (Traditional song of Lisbon, classified as intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO).
Since we have a variety of classes, if you don’t want to do the Codfish Workshop, you can do others. For example, a Market Tour/Cooking Class, where you’ll walk to the local market, +/-8 minutes, to buy fresh ingredients to cook your our own lunch. This class takes around 5 hours.
Or, the Pastry Class, where you will learn how to make the famous ‘Pastéis de Nata’ from scratch.
Or, also another traditional pastry (this class takes around 1:30 hour). Please note that the price may vary depending on the choice you make.
