The 25th of April Bridge is a suspension bridge connecting the city of Lisbon, the capital of Portugal, to the south bank of the River Tejo. It was inaugurated on August 6th of 1966, and a railway platform was added in 1999. Due to its similar coloring, it is often compared to San Francisco’s Golden Gate Bridge. However, the 25 de Abril Bridge wasn’t built by the same company responsible for the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge but by the American Bridge Company that built the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. With a total length of 2,277 meters, it is the 20th largest suspension bridge in the world.
Between rolling hills, majestic cliffs, and rough seas, Cape Espichel has a unique wild beauty. Here, you can visit historic buildings and, for the more adventurous, there are plenty of hiking tracks to explore in-depth the spectacular surrounding landscape.
If you love wild nature, then this is the place for you.
Sesimbra is a fishing village with paradisiacal beaches, where you can visit the fishing port, Sesimbra’s medieval castle, and other local gems.
José Maria da Fonseca’s winery is one of the oldest and most recognized Portuguese wine producers. At the winery, you will take a guided tour to learn about the history and process of wine production, followed by a tasting of the region’s most famous wines.
The Natural Park of Serra da Arrábida is known for the diversity of its Mediterranean fauna and flora. Between the dense vegetation of the forest and an endless blue sea here, you can enjoy the most stunning views.
The Convent of Arrábida was built in the 16th century, in the middle of the Natural Park on a hillside facing the Atlantic Ocean. It is a place of incredible beauty, with centuries of history to discover.
Palmela’s medieval Castle was conquered in the 12th century by the 1st king of Portugal, D. Afonso Henriques. From the walls that protect the castle, you will have an amazing view of the town of Sesimbra.
Try making a tile with your own hands and take it home as a souvenir of your visit to Portugal!
Take a boat trip and have a memorable experience! On this guided boat tour you can observe wild dolphins in their natural habitat. If there is time and if it’s hot, there’s the possibility to stop for a dip. Off the coast of Setúbal, there are several dolphins eager to see you! If you have children with you, take this boat trip, and go on an adventure.
