A Solidarity Tour to AMI
In the last December 9, 2014, we’re pleased to offer a tour of the West of Portugal for users of the center ‘Porta Amiga’ AMI – International Medical Assistance, which provides a structured support to those in need.
The day started in the centre ‘Porta Amiga’ of Chelas, and then in the centre ‘Porta Amiga’ of Olaias, where we’re to meet the users who would participate in this initiative.
The participants were very enthusiastic and, coincidentally, on the previous days was broadcast a report on television about the Tapada de Mafra (which would be one of the high points of the tour), which made them very expectant about what would they will watch and experience.
Arriving in Mafra, we made a short stop to glimpse the great Mafra’s Convent and Palace. Here our guide gave a brief background of the historical facts.
The bus journey was always very cheerful, where the good mood reigned, people sang, told jokes, stories and above all, plenty of positively emotional moments!
Arriving at the Tapada de Mafra, we were welcomed by Filipe, from Ambifalco – a company that develops several programs with birds of prey.
Filipe started the Birds of Prey show and from the beginning it was possible to feel the joy in the expression of each of one of the people.
In addition to glimpse the birds, they had the opportunity to interact with them, get to know them (we had some people that decorate the name of their favorite birds!) Touch them and in the end take a group photo.
Despite being a cooler day, more than usual in Portugal, the participants could enjoy a cozy lunch in the picnic area of Tapada de Mafra, prepared by members of the Portugal Premium Tours’ team and offered to all.
At the end of lunch we began a sightseeing tour of the West Coast of Lisbon, which lasted all afternoon. We visited Ericeira, Cabo da Roca, Cascais and Estoril!
This was a really unique day, where we’re able to provide a memorable experience to all users of the centres ‘Porta Amiga’ of AMI. In the words of users, the day was ‘spectacular, very good to all, we loved the interaction, the animation, the birds, the beach’ and the answer to the question: ‘What you like best’ was unanimous: ‘ALL!’.
Portugal Premium Tours is partner of the foundation AMI since 2012 for which contributes with a percentage of its turnover. The raised value is converted in meals to the users of the centers ‘Porta Amiga’.
During the year 2013 we had donated more than 600 meals and we believe that in the end of 2014 the value becomes much more significant, contributing actively in the fight against poverty, social exclusion and hunger.
If you also wish to support this foundation, which is celebrating its 30 years of existence see the site of AMI and get to know how.
