Our romantic journey started last week and as promised, we are now taking the next step on this adventure for two.
If you and your loved one are looking for quiet and picturesque places, we know exactly where you should go…
Sintra, the fairytale town
Located near Lisbon, Sintra has some well-known spots. It is a charming place that you must visit on a trip with your loved one. Sintra isn’t very big, nevertheless, you need a lot of time to fully enjoy all the stunning places you will run into. If you’re planning in visiting both Sintra and Lisbon, a delightful combination, maybe a private tour is a good bet, that way you won’t miss a bit of what both towns offer:
– Pena Palace, the ex-libris of Sintra.
It is not located in the town center, actually you have to go up a mountain to visit it. But don’t panic, there are plenty of buses to take you from the center to there, or you can go with your tour guide. It takes a while to get there but we promise it is worth it. The views are incredible, all the surroundings are stunning, and the palace itself is as charming as the fairytale ones.
– Monserrate Palace and Park, unique testimony of the 19th century.
Monserrate is located 4km from the center of Sintra and is worth the visit. It’s one of the most amazing creations of the Romantic era in Portugal. Inside the palace you can enjoy the exotic and yet harmonious decoration. Outside you can discover one of the richest Portuguese botanical gardens.
– Quinta da Regaleira, an arquitetural and natural masterpiece.
Here is another fairytale place, starting with the very uncommon but still beautiful small palace and continuing into the dazzling and huge gardens. You may get lost in all the amazing corners of this place, with unique spots to take the loveliest pictures.
As you may have noticed, Portugal is a top destination for lovebirds. Offering stunning views, gardens, castles, amazing food and the coolest spots, this small corner of Europe is full of surprises.
