Also the Portugal’s streets were awarded, with emphasis to the ‘Rua Augusta’, Lisbon and ‘Cais da Ribeira’, Porto, considered two of the 31 most beautiful streets in the World!
Oporto, known for its worldwide famous Port wine, was regarded, this year, as the best European destination and in 2013 was already awarded as the best culinary destination by the Wine Magazine. Viator.com website also highlighted the Oporto City as one of the 50th travel destinations in the World.
But Portugal isn’t only about cosmopolitan cities, the Country as also other regions recognized and awarded internationally. Cascais, located on the surroundings of Lisbon, was recently ranked as the most sustainable destination in the World and Óbidos and Ericeira stand out in the top 10 of the best small European destinations.
In Amarante, district of Oporto, you can find the ‘Largo do Paço’ Restaurant, number 1 on the list of the 50th best European restaurants, and at Batalha you can visit the Museum of Council Community of Batalha, elected in Belgium as the Museum of the Year 2014 .
The Historic Centre of Guimarães was voted as the 4th best Cultural Heritage by TripAdvisor and UNESCO and in 2013 Portugal has seen its culture be elevated again to World Heritage with the integration of the University of Coimbra and the Mediterranean diet on the UNESCO list.
